Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration is the number one cause of legal blindness in people 55 and older. The risk of Macular Degeneration significantly increases with age. In fact, people between the ages of 64 to 74 have a one–in-four chance of developing the disease.

Macular Degeneration results in extreme loss of central vision but not complete blindness. Macular Degeneration can hide undetected without obvious symptoms until it becomes very apparent and difficult to treat. Dr. Chris Teichmiller tests for this disease as part of your regular examination to ensure that your sight is the best for your lifetime.

  • The incidence of AMD grows from 1 in 10 people over the age of 60 to more than 1 in 4 over the age of 75.
  • Most people (80%) do not know they have AMD until they lose central vision in one eye.[1]
  • The National Eye Institute estimates 15 million Americans have AMD, with 2 million cases diagnosed each year.

Macular Degeneration treatments are available in advance to prevent one from becoming “Legally Blind”

Maular Risk is for patients with early signs of Drusen or Macular Degeneration that gives them a percent risk to develop the advanced form in the next 1,5 and 10 years AND it lets them know which supplements are most effective against ARMD based on their DNA profile.  This test is at no out of pocket cost to them and is billed by Macular Risk to their insurance.
