DECATUR, AL (WAFF) –Sherry Mahaffey visits her ophthalmologist regularly. She said her biggest problems revolve around the allergies that seem to strike year round.

“My eyes start watering. They start burning, and it’s just really a problem. I wear contacts,” she said. “It’s almost like there is a film on there that I can’t get rid of.”

She said she has tried everything.

“I’ve tried taking the contacts out, washing them, you know doing that. That would help temporarily and then I’ve tried, you know, over-the-counter drops.”

For many people over-the-counter drops eye drops will be just fine, but if that doesn’t work, it’s time to go see your doctor.
