Innovative Eyecare: Your LASIK Partner
Laser-Assisted-In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) is an increasingly popular procedure that can reduce or eliminate refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. This safe and effective outpatient treatment is generally referred to as refractive surgery or laser vision correction.
During a LASIK procedure, the surgeon uses a cool beam of light gently reshape the cornea of your eye. This is accomplished by creating a corneal flap on the surface of the eye, which is peeled back so that the laser can reshape the cornea, correcting the refractive error once and for all. No more glasses. No more contact. Just perfect vision.
Dr. Teichmiller partners with the top surgeons in Northern Alabama to provide guidance and care before and after surgery. Together, optometrist and surgeon can help you achieve perfect vision.
If you’re interested in undergoing LASIK, schedule a consultation with Dr. Teichmiller. During your visit, Dr. Teichmiller will assess your family history, personal risk factors and current prescriptions. A physical examination will evaluate your lid structure, tear film and ocular surface. Upon determining you are a likely candidate for LASIK, our team will refer you to a trusted surgery center in the Decatur area.
Before your LASIK procedure, Dr. Teichmiller will conduct a pre-operative care visit with you. You will undergo a final examination to ensure you’re healthy enough for surgery. During this time, you can ask any questions you have about the procedure, as well as risks and recovery. Our goal is to make you comfortable and confident as you prepare for surgery.
Post-operative care varies based on patient, but most often, a patient will see Dr. Teichmiller the day after surgery to ensure the success of the procedure. You will then return to the clinic multiple times over the course of a year so that our team can make sure you’re healing properly and feeling great!
